Head of Sixth Form and Work-related Learning

We are recruiting a Head of Sixth Form and Work-Related Learning to teach our exceptional pupils from September 2020.

The post-holder will:

  • Have an understanding of a vocational curriculum and experience of teaching children and young people with SEN – further training in aspects of Special Education will be provided, as appropriate.
  • Be committed to developing personalised learning, curriculum and assessment for young people with ASD, SLD and complex needs, using a wide range of teaching strategies.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to developing and delivering a bespoke and evolving curriculum that engages all of our young people. This will include using work-related learning as a vehicle for personal and social development.
  • Have the ability to engage with local employers, partners and colleagues to provide an enriching vocational-based curriculum for our young people.

This is a permanent, full-time post, and we are seeking to appoint for a September 2020 start with the first intake of Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form pupils starting in January 2021. This post would suit a teacher with a strongly evidenced interest in teaching young people with SEN and a commitment to teaching, leading and developing work-related learning in this sector. This is a middle leadership role and as such is only suitable for an experienced teacher; please apply only if you have QTS or a suitable FE teaching qualification. The post will involve a partial teaching timetable aligned with WRL or accreditation activities. Time will be divided equally between teaching and leadership responsibilities.
