At Abbey School, we believe children and young people with autism deserve a safe and nurturing environment that will provide them with a bespoke school curriculum and support plan to maximise their learning and prepare them for adult life.

With our universal provision and comprehensive fee structure, it is our aim to help local authorities place children and young people with autism into a school that’s right for their needs.

Set within a safe and inviting location in Chester city centre, our Residential places are for children and young people, aged eight-19, with autism. Working in close partnership with our education staff, families and carers, we ensure all our pupils receive a careful balance of 1-1 and small group learning based on their needs, in a home-from-home environment that offers strong community involvement.

Abbey School’s Residential offering provides our pupils with 24/7 support and care by our highly specialist trans-disciplinary team made up of qualified and experienced teachers, behaviour analysts, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and a skillfull social care team. This includes a balanced and personalised learning programme, a rich waking-day curriculum and residential waking-night staff. It also provides us with the knowledge to constantly review and adapt plans to ensure each young person’s needs are met and that they are making steady progress.

We understand the detrimental effects it can have on a child and their family’s well-being when they are placed in a Residential setting not fit for their needs. That’s why our comprehensive fee structure includes bespoke transitional support. This helps us to ensure a smooth and soft landing for pupils joining Abbey School, including transitions to and from each school placement.
